Early repayment penalties

The early repayment penalties, or early redemption charge, are the penalties imposed by the bank during the early repurchase of its credit by another financial institution. These penalties are indicated on your loan contract.

Usually they shouldn't exceed :
  • 3% of the outstanding principal before the refund :
  • 6 months of interest on the principal repayment due before :

The calculator proposes by default the lowest of these two threshold, but the value is editable.

    Loan term

This is the duration of your new loan.

By default, the calculator proposes a duration equal to the remaining term of your current credit.
However, renegotiating your loan can be an opportunity to reduce the term of your new loan and thus reduce the total cost.

Conversely, if you increase the duration of your new credit, you can reduce your monthly payments but you will increase the total cost of the new loan.
    New contribution

If you have available cash when renegotiating your loan, it may be wise to make a new contribution in order to reduce the amount of the new loan and therefore its overall cost.
